Hi, is Baptiste Giabiconi a poc? Wikipedia states his ethnicity as French Corsican but the French aren't poc are they?
Anonymous Asked

Baptiste isn’t POC, no. He is just tan. French Corsicans can be POC if they are from other backgrounds, of course, but in Baptiste’s case I’m pretty sure he is simply European with that Mediterranean tan.

[[MORE]]Plot:

At first, I thought your plot was just a typical werewolf plot, and I was slightly bored. However, as I kept reading, I was pleasantly surprised by how different it was, because it truly is different! I don’t think I’ve ever seen this plot, and it reminds me of True Blood only with werewolves. I think it’s unique (at least to me) and I liked this refreshing new take to an old story thats honestly done way too much on tumblr. There are so many wolf roleplays, and I like that yours isn’t hunters/werewolves, but more about the struggle to assimilate and live in harmony, while other rouge wolves aren’t a fan of the revealing of their natures.
What I will suggest, is perhaps just slimming down your paragraphs slightly. While extended plots can be long, and should be long, your paragraphs fall on the slightly chunkier side of things. For me it makes things easier to break it up, and losing an unnecessary word here and there wouldn’t hurt. This isn’t bad, though, and shouldn’t be your top priority! Your plot is good, I really enjoy it.

Rules:

One thing I will say, is that your rules being in ‘for the applicant’ is a strange place to be for me. I would put them in the lurker section, because I found myself having some trouble finding them.
Right off the back, you tackle triggering subjects. And while you handle age rules well, and list off triggering topics, you should link to your trigger list! I did notice that you have one, and I think a lot of reviews will dock of points if they don’t see you have one, so I would link to it in your rules so they and your members see it.I think your rules are really good though. The headers are clearly labeled, and the quick bullet points for each subject help to break it down further and easier. I like your rule where you recommend your characters re-read their bios, because that’s really important. I would even suggest, if any characters are linked, that they re-read those bios too, as I find it that people play their own characters wrong because they did not properly read the biographies of characters connected to them.
It’s also nice that you allow cis canon characters to be changed to non-binary or trans. One thing I would suggest is to be more careful with making characters trans if only because it’s always better to use an actual trans faceclaim for a trans character. And if you have to, please make the gender that the faceclaim is the gender that the character identifies with. If you’re doing this already, keep up the good work and disregard that.

Bios & FC’s:

FC’S
Right now, your ratio of POC to white characters isn’t too bad! You’re at 38%, which is good, but I would suggest you continue to strive to make more POC characters! You had me at Bob Morley, lets be honest though. None of your faceclaims were too underused or out there, with the exception of Erika Linder, who most people already know and use for their non-binary characters. So I would suggest look for faceclaims who are slightly underused, and maybe explore ages a little bit more. But I think you’re doing a good job with faceclaims, I just suggest look for more body diversity and go for people who are less typical to this genre.
Bios
There seem to be a lot of bios who are without connections, and that may throw some people off of playing them. I would suggest you make that a little bit more even, if only because these faceclaims are generally popular and there should be no reason they aren’t being taken. So even if it’s just a friendship, think of ways to connect the people without connections! It’ll put a new member at ease to have something to work off of.
The length of your biographies is consistent, and I like that. While I adore long bios, I like the length of yours because it seems like you’ve hit a sweet spot between long and too long, while still telling a story.
I also think you’re going with not so common ‘tropes’ with faceclaims, which is exciting! Seeing Logan Lerman as a more dominant human is fun, since people usually cast him as soft and unassuming. Then Tyler’s character isn’t this powerful Alpha, and typical ‘wolf’ faceclaims aren’t wolves; that’s nice! So I would keep that up, and don’t let your canons fall into tropes that their faceclaims are known for. It might be harder to get players to play them, but in the end you’ll be eliminating players who simply like to play the character who is a stereotype of the faceclaim. It’ll be better for your roleplay.

Other pages:

I like that you don’t use a lot of extra type of code for pages you don’t have to. It’s easier to read that way, and makes things more uniform. Your breakdown of the designations is really good, so don’t move that from the first drop down thing in the menu. You explain things really clearly, so bravo for that.
I like the little blue prints in your town section, it’s different. You give a quick look at the town, and then further break it down. And while I wish I had more of a visual, I do like the way you’re approaching it.
Your other content is good, though, and I can’t find much else to really critique or point out.

I actually really liked your roleplay! I may end up rec’ing it, because overall it’s organized, original, and pretty interesting! You guys as admins also seem really good and orderly, and I can’t wait to see this roleplay keep growing. If you ever need help with promoting, my submit is always open to you, and like I said, I may end up rec’ing you because I feel like you offer a very interesting new look at a supernatural roleplay.
Keep up the good work!

Skin.

Writing with Color has received several asks on this topic.

Everything from “how do I describe my character’s skin tone without being offensive?” and “what’s the problem with comparing my character to chocolate and coffee?”

I’m hoping to address all these and likewise questions in this guide on describing POC skin color, from light, dark and all that’s in between.

The Food Thing: So what’s the big deal?

So exactly what is the problem with comparing POC skin tone to cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar and other sweets and goods? Well, there’s several potential problems you come across when you pull out the old Hershey’s bar comparison for your dark-skinned character, even if offense is not your intention.

hello Suzy!! I need help :C I'm making a character with two mothers (they are married... you know) but I have never been in that situation so I don't know who to play a character like this, can you make a guide?? I'm sorry for my english D: I hope you understand :$$

Hello! I don’t really think this warrants a full guide, seeing as having two mothers is no different than having a mother and a father. Your home life really won’t be too different, and nothing will really change because of this.

However, sometimes, depending on where your character is it does affect them slightly if the area isn’t too accepting. Perhaps they’re slightly teased about it, or perhaps closed minded parents are rude about it. This is something to consider, but it’s also smart to keep in mind that even in more closed minded areas, people are becoming a lot more accepting, and are less likely to be so outwardly ignorant. Not to mention I really don’t think a lesbian couple would willingly stay in a town they know to be hurtful towards them when wanting to raise a child.

But something that will come into play are laws. For instance, depending on where your characters live, even if their mothers have a legal marriage license, in some states in the US they won’t honor that marriage. This will make things very frustrating for your characters mothers. For instance, if a child is sick, they may only allow the birth mother into the room. This also applies for if one of the mothers gets sick, the other mother and child if it is not their birth mother, will not be able to go in and see the sick mother due to the state not honoring the marriage license. Not to mention no tax exceptions and no health care coverage if one of mothers has a family plan. Basically, if your character lives outside of the states that recognize same sex marriages and their licenses, they’re going to encounter many problems when it comes to joint parenting rights.

This is a good source for you, that talks both about some of the laws, and also shows studies and the results of studies involving gay couples with children.

I hope this helped, and I would like to thank bamhelps for being a sort of ‘consultant’ on this!

I wanted to reapply for a character I used to play but the face was taken so I need a face that could portray my character. Who do you think could replace Crystal Reed as a slytherin that just hates the world and loves to fight?
Anonymous Asked

You can use anyone for any personality! If you feel that Crystal Reed is good for the character, then she’s good for her. Don’t worry about if the faceclaim can portray a character, any faceclaim can play anything, it’s up to you.

a young actress (aged 3-6) that can pass as crystal reed's daughter? (she doesn't need gifs of anything) thanks!
Anonymous Asked

I’m really, really not good at child actresses. However, here is a good resource for you.

Do you have any suggestions for family members for Shay Mitchel? I'm mostly looking for a father and an older brother for her at this point.

Actually, I’ve made a could be related with Shay in it, where I included two options for brothers, both who can be convincingly older. You can find it here.

For a father, I suggest:

  • Aga Muhlach
  • Joel Torre
  • Robin Padilla

However, if you need a white male if you cast a filipino mother, please specify and I will give you white males.
